Every holiday holds a special place in my heart. Most of all I love to celebrate, gather people, and enjoy life as it comes. When every holiday comes around, I usually say it’s my favorite. Fair weather fan I guess. Most of all I LOVE the 4th of July. I love America. It sounds cliche, but I really do.
There is a lot of debate around the religious affiliation of our founders, I understand that. Christian or not, those men were visionary, disciplined, respectable, leaders who had character, integrity, humility and a passion for humanity that has trickled down over the years. The words penned by these amazing men have been unmatched. The Constitution. The Declaration of Independence. Men who wrote Patriotic Hymns. Women who sewed flags. Wrote to soldiers. Cared for America’s men. Women who gave their own life and dreams to see a better nation rise.
There is much to be thankful for. We live in a beautiful land that is FREE. We can VOTE for our leaders. We can WORK where we choose. We have freedom or religion and speech. While I think that our world is changing quickly, there is still much to be thankful for. There have been thousands of men who have given their lives to protect and lead our country.
I love the 4th of July because we get to be together as a country! Communities celebrate together! Besides the weather and food, it is one of the few times a year when I “get back to my roots” and remember where we came from. Yes I am the girl that plays patriotic music all day. I tear up at the pledge of allegiance and patriotic songs. I clap LOUD for our military. I wave flags. Because we have LOTS to celebrate. Put up a flag. Grab a lemonade and celebrate all that is American because I truly believe that we are the greatest country in the world.
